Paint Zoom - The Fast and Easy Way to Paint

By Peter Wells

Paint Zoom is flavor of the month on the television review shows and during advert breaks. Everybody will now be aware of this revolutionary new painting system, the ins and outs, the benefits and savings, but the main question remains, is it really as good as the TV picture paints it to be?

Well, let's look at the claims and how it works first of all. Then we can delve deeper and see if it actually works.

The first thing you'll realize is the lack of a need for traditional painting implements such as rollers and brushes. The machine produces a fine spray to cover surfaces and you might only need a brush for touching up and fine edge work.

Before you're ready to start painting you first need to fill the paint reservoir inside the machine. Luckily the sprayer comes equipped with a measuring cup which enables you to get the right paint to water ratio mixed together at the beginning.

The paint you spray is water based and therefore will only stick to surfaces suited for this type of paint. When you're ready to start spraying just pull the trigger back towards the handle and the paint will flow. To finish spraying just let go of the trigger, it really couldn't be easier.

The product incorporates a 650 watt motor, which although not huge, is certainly large enough to power the pump and maintain a spray longer than your hand can hold the trigger! This motor size reduces the overall weight, which is another added benefit to comfort.

The product has a certain amount of kudos and longevity in the paint spraying world. It has been sold within internal as well as international markets for more than ten years and continues to garner a strong customer support base.

There are also other paint sprayers on the market, but the Zoom stands out in its own niche. It isn't looking to compete with more powerful, complex commercial sized sprayers, it's target audience is you and me and it's goal is to offer every family the chance to spray, walls, fences, sheds, entire houses etc. on a domestic level.

The question remains, does it work?

The machine isn't a commercial sprayer and can't really match up to these more powerful models, but then it was designed on a domestic premise and it really does what it set out to achieve, which is to provide the homeowner with an alternative to brushes and rollers.

To ensure you get an even mix of spray on the surface you're painting, always use the viscosity cup to get the mix right. As long as you follow the guidelines you'll make a great job of any project and the product will hold up its end of the bargain, with the pump doing a fine job.

If you make mistakes like some reviewers have and forgo the viscosity cup for accurate paint mixing, don't be surprised if you get large blobs of paint on the surface or blocked nozzles holding up jobs.

Other users have complained of the hose working loose and disconnecting from the main body and it's true that this isn't super tight, but it's a lightweight machine and as such shouldn't be pulled by the hose. Use the main handle to lift and carry the machine around.

Overall we were very happy with the Paint Zoom and would recommend it to others. We painted enough different areas and things to give it a good type testing and it wasn't found wanting.
