Easier Using And Removing Wundaweb From Clothing

By Laura Wimble

It is sometimes necessary to remove Wondaweb from clothing, for re-adjusting or to alter the length, but what is the best way to go about it? There are two best methods: -

1: Pressing: In this method one will need a soft, clean and damp pressing cloth which should be thoroughly damp and re-wet for each pressing with a hot iron.

a) With the soft, clean cloth cover the area of web to be removed.

b) The cloth should be covered with a damp pressing cloth and press with a hot, dry iron until the soft cloth is very damp and hot.

c) The soft cloth should be rapidly raised from the fabric when it is considered to be really hot and damp. This will separate the undesirable wonderweb from the fabric.

d) Above actions 1, 2 and 3 should be repeated until the web has been removed or softened to an acceptable level.

Notes to be considered: A clean portion of cloth should be used for each pressing and care should be taken not to contaminate the fabric from other areas of the cloth already used for removing the web.

2. The Isotropy-Alcohol solution:

In this method you have to buy some milliliters of Isotropy-Alcohol. You can get it from the chemists and make its solution by adding 10% water of that quantity and gently warm up the solution. Use a soft cloth with the Isotropy-Alcohol solution to lightly dab the wundaweb affected portion of the cloth. Use a blotter to catch the surplus mixture. And then, you can repeat the step until the residue is vanished.

Important tips: Try the solution on a small piece of fabric first, do not use overall.

The wundaweb is perfect for many works on clothing, works on almost all the fabrics and it can be removed. It is dry cleanable and washable fine fusible fleece that feels like gauze that bonds the fabric together providing a firmly natural joined finish. One can use it to put hems on jeans and skirt like dresses. It comes in smaller and longer lengths. To repair trouser pockets, one would recommend it to any house lady who copes with such tedious jobs.

However, sometimes the wundaweb sticks to the bottom of the iron. In such cases, one must immediately take dry cotton and wipe it clean, otherwise it would result in a sticky residue on the plate of the iron, and that person runs the risk of having the same on any of the clothes their iron hereon. Further, in order to again extend your curtain to fit longer lengths, all you need to do to break the bond is to place the damp cloth again, out a hot iron for 10 seconds, and just peel apart the fabric.
