Any homeowner must assess the flooring materials and know the best time to do the finishing of the surfaces. If this work is done on time, then the family enjoys using it for long.

People love to use these materials, but they are not professionals. However, they do not know what to look for when they want to refinish. These surfaces are used daily, and they become exposed to air, moisture or heat. This makes them deteriorate easily. Water and air cause some areas in your flooring material to get ridges that look awful. In addition, moving furniture causes scratches, dents and scuffs.

The first thing before starting the job is to take away everything from the surface. Remove the carpets, furniture, decorations and any other thing that could be there and take them outside. Once you have finished this, the room is ready for hammering the bloated nail heads.

Clean the area with rugs. Use water and detergents recommended. You need to scrape hard dirt with a putty knife. Use a vacuum cleaner and mop and remove debris. Do not forget to remove the tack stripping on the floor edges. This taps come along when installing carpets. This should be carried out before the sanding process begins. This ensures that areas are hit with the finish used.

In most cases, you find old finish you have to remove by using sand paper. There are other materials used to do sanding. This includes the available chemical stripping agents. These chemicals help to remove the finish within a short time. When other hard dirt like stains, scratches or irregular patterns affect your surfaces, use the sanding process. This allows one to add new coats to make it look great.

You will apply the new finish after removing all the dirt, dents and scratches from the surfaces wiping it clean. Ensure that all the holes are filled up with wooden plugs and paste. The last thing is to vacuum the place properly, and it will remove all the debris, sawdust and stripper. The room should be dried and then the coats are applied all over the floor. It is good to ventilate to improve the air circulation in the room so as to prevent yourself, the workers and your family from developing health complications.

Refinishing hardwood floor is a task that looks nice when coat applied dries well, and then add a final coat. This helps to make the color deep. To get a nice surface, repeat the same technique as described. Finish it off using polyurethane coating or wax to make it shinny.
