By Georgie McNeal

Keeping our homes comfortable during the winter can become complicated. It can even seem to be a daunting task when you begin looking at the many types of floor coverings available today. A comparison of floor coverings will prove that carpeting makes any room feel warmer than those with wood or tile on the floor. The question is, what can be done to make every room of the home feel just as comfortable as the next. [Have you considered in floor heating?

Hydronic heating is a tried and proven technique. It has been in use for some time now. It is like night and day once you install in floor heating to help create comfort throughout your home.

Freezing winter days can leave you wishing you could simply get back into bed after stepping on cold bathroom floor tiles. With bone-chilling speed, that cold rushes throughout your body. Your entire day can go much smoother when you are able to step onto a floor using hydronic heating. Once you have seen the difference you will not want to enter another freezing floor again.

In floor heating works well because warm air rises. That means that as your system heats the sub-floor it radiates right into the floor covering and on into the room. Now comes the question about how to make sure that the heat performs the way it is supposed to.

When hydronic heating is placed into the floor of a home a specific amount of insulation should applied underneath it to prevent wasted energy. The typical areas of any home where in floor heating is especially desirable are on wood and tile floors that are often found in the kitchen and bathroom this allows you to direct where the heat goes. With the right amount of insulation applied correctly this will allow you to enjoy greater energy efficiency.

We should all be doing everything we can to keep energy costs down particularly with the rising costs involved. The proper use of insulation throughout the home is important including when installing hydronic heating. Failure to do so will cost a lot more in the future than it will to apply the proper amount of insulation right from the beginning.

It doesn't matter whether you are involved in new construction or renovating an older home, it is worth taking the time to discover in floor heating. Those bone-chilling icy floors will be a thing of the past when you no longer have to step onto cold tile floors.
