Understanding the Link Between Age and Pregnancy

By Kaitlyn Miller

A lot of women understand just how hard it is to get pregnant after 40. This difficult event is mainly due to the decrease chances of getting pregnant during middle age. According to experts the chance of conceiving successfully after 40 lowers because of changes in the woman's reproductive health. Nevertheless, while it is difficult it is not impossible. There are simple ways and methods to get pregnant even after this age.

There are plenty of women who upon experiencing difficulty in getting pregnant will want to try artificial methods. These days however, this rule does not follow automatically until your health care provider sees that natural methods are not for you. There are plenty of women who experiences difficulties in getting pregnant who eventually conceived after following doctor's natural suggestions.

Risk of Reduced Fertility

A woman's body starts with thousands of egg cells during late childhood and puberty. This will gradually released by the body during menstruation. The body will continue releasing the egg cells and the body will only have about half of the original count at 30 years old. As the woman advances to 40, the number of egg cells is reduced to only 25 percent and slowly dwindles down to nothing as she reaches menopause.

Reduced fertility will only mean that women may have a harder time getting pregnant, but it is not impossible. Getting pregnant naturally can still be achieved especially if the woman keeps a healthy lifestyle.

Health Factors

Now that we understand how getting pregnant after 40 years of age is not impossible, women should always consider their overall health. The problem with middle age pregnancy is that women are not always completely healthy to carry the baby within their bodies. This causes miscarriage or other pregnancy related issues. Most doctors will advise that women over 40 should be more careful of their health to ensure safety.

Prepare Right for the Pregnancy

Preparation and planning are very important for women who want to become new mothers at 40 years old. Doctors will tell you that whether through artificial or natural methods, a middle age pregnancy can be difficult to sustain if the mother is unhealthy. Planning and preparation will offer women success throughout pregnancy and childbirth.

Most doctors will agree that awareness is an important key during middle age pregnancy. There are a lot of women who are able to get pregnant during this age but still experience miscarriage. This is because they are unaware on how to properly care for their bodies and their babies. Complete vitamins and nutrients are required to sustain a good and healthy pregnancy as well as childbirth.

Experts in reproductive health shares that getting pregnant involves awareness of the woman's body especially the monthly cycle. Any woman for example can easily get pregnant at the right time of their cycle (which is the ovulation). To know more about the monthly cycle, reproductive health care as well as prenatal care are very important.

Getting the right health care before and during pregnancy is important for any woman. This is because doctors are able to see any needs of extra care during the pregnancy and help women prepare for childbirth. It also provides early health care for the child.
