The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is as old as 600 BC and is a prime example of a vertical garden.

There is no limit to the variety of plants that you can use as part of a green wall. These can range from vegetables to fruits to flowers of different varieties. Since it shrinks the amount of garden space, the amount of work is also reduced. While one of the advantages of a vertical garden is that it can be done on both external and internal walls, don't forget that you can even do it without the use of soil. So, if you don't want to use soil, you don't have to. It is purely your choice. The only thing that your plants need is a regular supply of water. Since these are quite easy in maintaining, more and more people are utilizing their walls to have their own garden.

A rundown building can definitely look beautiful with these green plants. However, this is not the only good thing about these living walls. These living walls also serve the purpose of air purification. In some cases, these are attached to the air return system of the building to help with air filtration.

Your vertical garden will also have a positive effect on the temperatures of your building. So, expect a reduction in your power costs. So, try out vertical gardening and you will surely be surprised at the benefits it brings for you.
