A New Way To Decorate: Mini Lighted Outdoor Christmas Trees

By Giselle Taylor

I don't know you but I'm pretty sure you have one of those regal looking firs decked out in ornamental balls and twinkling lights in your living room right? How about trying something different this year? Extend yuletide cheer to the rest of the neighborhood by setting up mini lighted outdoor christmas trees-you'll be the most popular house in the street.

Several of these snow topped trees lining up your walkway are truly lovely to behold. As evening settles in and the miniature trees begin to sparkle, expect delighted expressions from children and adults alike crowding to see your front lawn.

You can either get artificial or live versions of this tree, depends on what you prefer. Of course, live trees of the same size and shape are a little more difficult to find; however, if you are set on this make a few rounds on christmas tree shops and you will find what you are looking for. Drape them in mini lights and tinsel and attractive ornaments. Surprise even your family by spray painting them with glow in the dark or glitter pain in metallic hues.

Artificial trees will end up saving you more money if you plan to use them for several more Christmases. Plan your theme and buy the appropriate lights for it. You can get lights of all colors, shapes and sizes-complementing your tree will not be a problem. Wind these flashing strands around the boughs making sure it is spaced as evenly as possible. Hang up attractive accessories and fix it in place with tape or glue.

Take extra precautions with your outdoor decorations so you will still be able to use them for the years to come. Avoid using breakable ornaments, weather conditions can work against you with this. Wrap the trunk of the tree with strong ropes and pole it through the ground firmly. You wouldn't want them flying all around the street do you? You can also cover these sometimes unsightly ropes with taped gift wrapped boxes (fake presents) under the tree.

You are about to go to the christmas tree shops to make your purchase, have you looked around your yard to see where these miniature trees will be best placed? The spot should have a power outlet nearby so christmas lights can be plugged in easily. Make certain that the extension cords are covered safely to avoid the danger of people tripping on them accidentally. If you cannot cover them, at least have a sign to warn passersby of it.

Pre-lighted trees are also being sold on some specialty sites online. In purchasing these little gems, you will have the convenience of a battery operated, often timer controlled displays that will not endanger passersby with extension cords that they can trip on. They are also quite attractive. View them online and if you like what you see, the virtual store can have it delivered right to your doorstep.

Your Christmas spirit is bubbling out of you, into your home, and now into all those who are fortunate enough to pass by your warm and inviting home. You are a beacon of this light, beyond the twinkling of your little trees-be merry and continue spreading the joy. Happy holidays!
