Caring For Your Cockapoo Puppies

By Tameka Ware

There are different breeds of dogs that you can choose from if you wish to get yourself one of these beloved furry animals. If you are into small and furry dogs, your best option is to get cockapoo puppies. This breed is a cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle. Since it is a cross breed, the puppy may differ in size and appearance. Cockapoos usually have shiny fur that can be wavy or curly.

If you are going to get yourself a puppy, you should be aware of the different responsibilities that you have. Caring for a puppy is just like taking care of your own child. What kind of dog it will become will depend on the way the owner was able to care for it. If you want to make sure that the puppy will grow up healthy and well mannered, you must be able to provide it with all of the things that it will need.

One thing that all puppies are going to need is good nutrition. They need to be fed properly to aid with their rapid development. What you should give them has to be something full of nutrients. If you have no idea what kind of food to give, your veterinarian can recommend something that you can try.

It is your responsibility as the puppy's owner that it will receive all of the required vaccines. Pets have to be vaccinated to prevent it from getting those death causing diseases common in many dogs. A puppy is very prone to contracting these diseases that is why you should complete its immunization before it is too late.

Your next responsibility is to ensure that the puppy is clean and properly groomed. Dogs like cockapoos tend to have long or wavy hair that easily becomes dirty. Bathing them should be done regularly. It is also important to always brush or comb the puppy's hair to make it shinier and to remove any dirt that is stuck to it.

Owners should also make sure that they can socialize their pets. Socialization is needed for this will help a puppy to become calm and composed when there are other dogs or animals. Poorly socialized dogs have the tendency to be scared or will even bite and snarl at anyone that they will encounter when outside.

Puppies normally bite when they are playing or when teething. This behavior however is something that you should not encourage. It is best to show to your puppy that is behavior is not acceptable by withdrawing your hand or giving a verbal reprimand. This has to be done so this behavior will not be carried until adulthood.

Owners also have to take charge of potty training their puppy to prevent it from soiling the house. This is a challenging task especially for those with small dogs. In this stage, you need a lot of patience. It is not advisable to punish the puppy.

Give your cockapoo puppies the best care possible. Although caring for them is hard, it will all be worth it in the end. You just need to keep in mind that you are the puppy's parent and the one mainly responsible for its care.
