Cable Seals & The 3 Standards That Matter

By Jason McDonald

People rely on cable seals because they are among the best security measures imaginable. In order for these expectations to be met, though, the seals in question must adhere to certain standards. Without these, the products that people rely on so much will not be as effective as predicted. Here are the three most important standards that not only help these seals stand out but instill confidence in those that utilize them.

ISO-17712:2013 - Starting with this standard, it is meant to apply general standards and practices to the development of seals. What this means is that if a seal goes through inspection and quality control, just to name a few examples, it is due to the ISO. It also tests for three categories of seals: High Strength, Security, and Indicative. Regardless of the category being focused on, testing must be done at certain laboratories in order to be legitimate.

C-TPAT - When it comes to security, more than anything else, the U.S. Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism is worth discussing. The C-TPAT standard is designed so that every seal that is created is secure. They must be able to pass the High Strength Test before they are shipped out for the public to obtain. This is yet another standard that the likes of American Casting & Manufacturing hold in high regard, and understandably so.

ISMA - If you are unfamiliar with the International Seal Manufacturers Association, it is an organization that is open to anyone that creates and distributes safety seals. Not only does it ensure that every seal is made with trust, but the organization in question is open for members. However, prospects have to adhere to certain rules beforehand. The ISMA requires that prospects meet certain standards, not only for security reasons but in terms of quality as well.

By following these standards, cable seals will be able to provide the utmost security and quality in general. It is safe to assume that the average person will be cautious about spending money. They want to make sure that they receive the most bang for their buck, especially when it comes to items that are meant to provide safety. If you know which company to do business with, the seals you pick up will prove useful in the long term.
