Looking For TICA Registered Ragdoll Kittens?

By Helen Young

Most people enjoy pets and love having them in their homes. Kittens are one of the favored domestic animals because they are usually independent and easy to care for. Some people visit pet stores, shelters, or answer classified ads to find just the right feline. For several reasons other people look to pure breeds, such as TICA registered ragdoll kittens, when they decide to purchase an new pet. They may want to show the animals or just add them to their families. Whichever type of cat lover you are, there are some important issues you need to think about before a purchase.

The International Cat Association has very specific requirements that must be met in order for any animal to be registered with it. If you are looking for a show quality kitten, you should probably select a breeder from one on the association's approved list. This is the surest way to avoid problems with its pedigree later on.

Ragdolls are a specialized breed with very specific personality traits and physical characteristics. These are large animals as cats go, but traditionally very gentle, docile, and friendly. Lying limply in their owner's arms is one of the traits that comes to mind when describing them. Ragdolls usually mix well with other animals. They have unique markings, color combinations, and also beautiful blue eyes.

Even though children often beg for pets and promise to help care for them, they do not always create the most favorable environment for a small animal. At the very least, children will need constant adult supervision to make sure pets are well treated. Your should also consider the other aspects of your lifestyle before you commit to the responsibility that comes with being a pet owner.

Kittens do need special care when they first join the family. They will have to be trained to use a litter box for instance. This job is often just a matter of making sure they know where the box is located, but some cats require a little more encouragement. Most young animals do not need to be given the run of the house in the beginning. You can contain them in a few rooms at first and then open your home to them gradually.

The International Cat Association would be a good place to start when you are trying to decide whether or not you want to eventually show your new cat. It is probably a good idea to start this endeavor slowly if you are new to the world of cat shows. If you are an old hand, you will know fairly quickly whether or not your kitten is going to succeed in that world.

Strangers, noises, unfamiliar smells, bright lights, and traveling can be very upsetting if the animal is not adept at handling such situations. You will have to decide before you get into the business of registering for shows, and going to the expense that entails, whether or not your unique animal is right for it. You may want to try out a small local show to see how your cat responds to cat show demands.

Ragdolls are a great breed of cat whether you intend to show them professionally or simply make them private family members. Pets can be a joy and comfort to everyone who comes in contact with them.
