The English bulldog cab be regarded as a dog that is compact and wide, has short legs and is medium sized. They do not need large yards to frolic in, but they should be taken for daily walks to stave off their innate instinct to migrate. This is a dog that has no problems with long periods of inactivity.

If you live in a tropical climate, this dog is not for you as it has trouble cooling off when it is hot. It cannot also live in very cold weather as it chills easily. The best climate for the bulldog is a temperate one.

When choosing this breed, you will not be left wanting in the medical complications department. The breed has its share of skin complications and flatulence problems at the onset. Later years will see it have poor eyesight alongside hip and knee problems. Some dogs of this breed may also have breathing problems due to smaller than average windpipes.

This breed however is easy to groom. This is because of its short and fine fur coupled with its average shedding. It is a good practice to always clean its face, especially between the wrinkles. This face cleaning should be done at least once a day.
