How To Clean And Care Your Maple Bowls And Wooden Stuffs

Kitchen and food utensils are very important tools in our house. By the name itself, they are primarily used to cook, serve and eat our food. These things help us in almost all activities at home that involves food.

There are utensils for kitchen and eating use. There are also different types of utensils according to the materials being used. Some are made of copper, aluminum, iron and even from wood. Wooden utensils, like maple bowls, are a bit heavier compare to aluminum but they definitely look good in your table and is one of a kind.

Some people prefer using wooden kitchenware because they have fascination to wooden stuffs or maybe because they inherited it from their parents or great grand parents. Once these types kitchenware have been used for a long time already, it quickly looses its gloss finish, that is they need extra care. Here are few tips on how to clean and take care of them to avoid continuous replacing of these things.

Wash immediately. Food particles usually stick to kitchen wares were not washed immediately after being used. Make sure that after enjoying your meal in your bowl, you were able to wash it through warm water. Warm water is good in taking away food particles that sticks unto your bowl.

Avoid heat. Heat could easily crack woods, that is why it is extremely dangerous to put them to heat. Do not ever use your wooden bowls when you wanted to microwave some food. Use also other kind of bowl for hot soups since it might crack your bowl. And more importantly, do not put these utensils and bowls in a dishwasher. You must hand wash them.

Run some white vinegar. When you have not properly washed your tools, it might leave some small food grains which you may not see. Running some vinegar to would kill the bacteria that stayed in the porous surface of the kitchenware. Run in for about 4 teaspoons of vinegar and set it aside for about 30 minutes.

Use sandpaper. From time to time, try to stroke the surface of your bowls and spoons if they are still smooth. When you feel like there is something coarse or rough area, get a sandpaper and polish it. Just be sure that only those spot where it is a bit coarse that you would rub the sandpaper with to prevent the damaging of any other surface of the bowls and utensils.

Oiling. Sometimes, because of constant use of these type of utensils, the color and its shine gets fade. In order to bring back the shine of your wooden kitchen ware, apply some oil unto it. You may apply the oil with a clean cloth or just using your fingers and then wipe it properly. Make sure you have applied the oil in the entire body so that the glossiness would get even.

Storage. After using it, place it in its proper storage. The heat of the sunlight is another factor that could ruin your kitchen ware so make sure that your storage area for these kinds of item is somewhere where there is not sunlight than can pass through.
