Advantages Of Using Hay Nets For Horses

By Carolyn Allen

Different regions experience different climatic conditions which in turn has an effect on the productivity. Those owning horses in areas with low pasture have come to see that the use of hay nets for horses can be used to ensure that the feeding habits are well controlled. It is because they need to be fed throughout the year despite inadequacy of pasture.

Because of the inadequacy of pasture in the dry areas, avoiding food wastage is very important. Pasture nets ensure that the horse is only able to pick one mouthful at a time. Therefore, the amount of food that goes to waste is greatly minimized than in situations where the horse was to feed by itself. A horse cannot be able to pull out large chunks of food from the bag.

Injuries usually lurk around whenever animals are feeding. This situations may be avoided if food was to be made available in a bale. It is because the pasture on the floor may be dry and rough and can cause serious injuries to the nose and mouth areas. Using the nets, you can be sure that the animal will feed without incurring any injuries.

Regulating the amount of food intake of your animal is of significance. This is advisable when the animal attains different ages. It can also be an advice from your veterinarian. Hence, to ensure that the amount of food being consumed is controlled, you should use nets. It is because however much the food in the bag is, the animal will only feed on just enough hay.

Another importance of using pasture nets is that they maintain food hygiene and freshness. Hay bags contains food in a well tied bag. This prevents the amount of hay that falls on ground which can be contaminated by urine, feces or as a result of the animal stepping on it. This goes without saying that the style will also be kept clean.

Another advantage that is drawn from using food bales is that several animals can feed from the same hay. Doing this ensure that they are comfortable while feeding because they will not be any form of interference. This is very effective to those who own several horses. On top of that, as the owner, you can have them properly fed using limited amount of hay.

Dried is highly perishable especially when it is not well store. This also happens when the animal starts feeding on it. This situation can be averted by keeping the pasture in bags. This greatly reduces the rate at which the hay weathers. It also ensure that the freshness of the food is maintained for longer periods.

When a horse is expectant, it is critical that you control the weight of horse. Doing this ensures that you avoid any complications that can arise as a result of the horse being overweight. The food bag controls the amount of food that the animal take in in any feeding session. This ensures that it undergoes a smooth gestation period.
