Guiding Principles About Mountain Dog Training

By Steven Robinson

It is widely known that a pooch is the best ally to man. More often than not, many households have dogs which may be petted. Or may be used for guarding homes against thieves and trespassers. Many people are so attached to their puppies to an extent that they cannot be apart from them. There is a variety of breeds around the world; all these breeds serve diverse purposes to humans. Mountain dog training should be undertaken if one wishes to coexist with such type of breed.

Sitting position drill can be undertaken easily, and it is the first most basic skill that a mutt should know. This can be done by holding food directly above and slightly behind the head. The aim of this is for the dog to lose poise and then sit down, in some other instances older dogs do not easily lose balance and hence pressure should be applied in front of a hip bone. In addition to this drill, the guide should use voice to direct the dog to sit.

For the proper teaching of the canine, one should be authoritative and train like a leader. But if done in a friendly manner the teaching may not be effective. Basic coaching such as sitting down, laying down or expressing anger can be done. The methods used for such drills are easy the only thing that one need is food, and thus, the puppy can be fed several times a day. Often, it should be done when the pooch is still a puppy for them to obey.

The down drill should not be misunderstood with off drill, where the canine is guided to get off from a chair. But rather, it is instructing the mutt to lay down on its stomach. In this method, a vessel of food is passed in the middle of the limbs of a canine, and the effect of this is that it will lay down. As usually, the voice instruction might be done at the same time while doing the exercise.

To teach a dog to sit down, one requires a bowl of food. The food is held above and behind the head of a canine. This is done while commanding the hound with voice to sit down. Since this drill will make the dog to lose steadiness and sit, the canine should then be rewarded with food for obeying the orders, repeating this method several times while feeding the hound it may enhance the memory of the puppy and eventually it will follow this command every time it hears the word sit.

When training the canine to lay down, the bowl of food can be dragged in between the limbs of a dog. By doing that, it will draw the canine to lay down and hence it must be followed by rewarding it with the food. By doing this repetitively it will get the mutt to be familiar with that grasp sometimes without even meals. The drill must be always supported with a voice so that it can be impeded in the mind of a bowwow.

Sometimes the dog might do unwanted things. To show anger, the trainer should use the word no. The voice used may be firm and authoritative in a sense to display the discomfort. This done severally can eventually be obeyed by the mutt. Training should be regular make dogs remember for a longer period.

Training should be gentle but firm so as to get good results. The pooch should never exercise after a meals and sweets must be kept away from the diet. Food training is mostly recommended as an appropriate method.
