Information On Ragdoll Kittens TICA Registered

By Robert Perry

It is for a fact that lap dogs are getting competition from one breed of cat. The competitors are the ragdoll cats which are equally floppy and limp like rag dolls. In fact, they derive their name from this behavior of being docile, friendly, craving human companion, and enjoying being cradled. They exhibit a different behavioral pattern which in turn distinguishes them from other feline breeds. When in search of Ragdoll Kittens TICA registered should be given priority.

This breed appeared in the 1960s according to historical evidence that is available. Ann Baker who was a cat breeder based in California is credited with the creation of this breed. Interestingly, they were products of a male and female cat that roamed the streets of California with no one to care for them.

Little attention was put on the fact that the cats used in the breeding were homeless and roaming the streets. As such, no one really knows the ancestors of the ragdolls. A common belief however is that the female cat used was white in color. This often leads people to believe that the cat may have been a a Persian, Birman, or Burmese cat. Ragdoll kittens were eventually developed by the breeder based on specific desirable characters.

For cat fanatics, adding a ragdoll kitten to their pets if often such a good idea. They are friendly, intelligent, and loyal. People who have kept this breed before attest to the fact that they are suitable for co-existing with other pets such as dogs. Kittens of this breed are quite affectionate. They demonstrate this by following their owners around.

The breed is also very intelligent. Therefore, kittens can be trained to play intelligence games like fetch. One can train kittens to obey commands like roll over, sit, and shake a paw. However, it would be unwise to expect cats to follow all orders given to the latter like other kinds of pets. This is because cats like doing things in their own good time.

For those with the intention to have cats that stay at ground level or on the sofa, this breed is the best.. Ragdolls are one of the largest feline breeds with an average weight of 10 to 20 pounds or even more. Their bodies are sturdy with large frames and legs are proportionate. Although they have large bodies, their voices are small and soft.

The size of the males is larger than the females. Male ragdolls often weigh 12 to 20 pounds or more, while females weigh 8 to 15 pounds. One feature that distinguishes kittens of the breed is that they have bright blue eyes. They possess plush coats with long guard hairs. They do not have a defense undercoat.

To finalize, this breed has its own fair share of shortcomings. First, it is uncommon for them to meow which makes some people to assume that they are resistant to pain when they are in fact not. Second, despite their long lifespan of about 12 to 17 years they have a tendency to develop health problems more than other breeds. Some health issues are specific to the breed due to their genes.
