Come To The Dark Side, We Have Cookies

By Evan Sanders

Heading into the hurtful and painful parts of your past is pretty nerve-wracking. It's a tough place to spend time. In fact, most of us just avoid this place altogether. Despite that, it's one of the greatest sources of true wisdom.

But why?

Because going into the shadows lets you heal deep-seeded pain, experiences and events you truly haven't come to terms with yet and emotions you've had tendency to avoid.

When you dive into the shadows with the intention of bringing light and healing to your life, you eventually start the healing process that can literally defrost you from the inside out.

How amazing would it be to finally start living the life outside of pain that you've always wanted to live? How would it feel to be released from all of that pain?

But how do you take this journey?

The best method to get to this place - the shadows - is by putting yourself into a very relaxed and safe state of meditation. When you start to dive into this place naturally your most major fears, troubles, and stresses about life will come to the front of your mind. Continue to breathe.

The skill that you are looking to develop here is to get close enough to the emotions of this dark place without becoming completely overwhelmed by them. When you can experience the moment without taking yourself out of commission you know that you are in the right spot.

Going into the shadows takes a whole lot of work and practice, but the journey in itself is worth it. It's worth it because if you do it right, you can start to feel painful events and the emotions that surround those events release from your life. You can start to heal. You can start to breathe again.

The secondary benefit is that you get to unravel your past which allows you to come back into the present moment.

So make an effort to start the healing process by doing the shadow work necessary. Yes it will be scary at times, but it could really help you in the long run.
