Do not improperly lay your new sod. Your soil should be prepared before you lay the sod. Weed the soil well, and till the entire lawn area. Next, you want to make the soil compacted by applying light but firm pressure. Make sure the soil creates a flat surface. Make sure the soil is moist all the way through. Sod must be arranged in staggered rows; each joint should offset one another. Pat down the sod and fill any gaps with soil. The sod requires water on a daily basis for two weeks, then the roots will have taken hold and ready to be walked on.

Plant a variety of flowers to keep your flower garden colorful and interesting. Annuals and biennials can add excitement and interest to your flower garden every season. These biennials and annuals are fast-growing, and they allow you to brighten up your flower bed with a change for each season. You can also use these flowers to fill gaps between shrubs or perennials. The most popular varieties to use include petunia, zinnia, cosmos, snapdragon, marigold, hollyhock, and sunflower.

If you see mildew that is powdery, stay away from expensive chemicals to treat it. Mix a bit of liquid soap and some baking soda into water. Once weekly, spray this mixture to the affected areas of your plants, and the mildew should be eliminated shortly. The baking soda is harmless to your plants and a very effective remedy.

Are fresh mint leaves something you love but cannot stand how quickly they grow all over your garden? That's why it's better to place mint in containers rather than letting it have free rein in your garden. Then, you can plant the container into the ground. However, the container walls will keep the roots held, and prevent the plant from consuming too much of your garden space.

If you are gardening for the first time ever, read and follow all directions and instructions that come with your chemicals and tools. Garden chemicals can cause skin irritation and eye injury. Be careful when it comes to your body, and always follow directions.

Make sure air can circulate around your plants, and keep leaves moisture-free. If your plants get too moist, they may get sick or infested with parasites. A fungus is one of the most important and debilitating parasites for plants. Fungicidal spray treatments can contain fungi, but spraying prior to problems even developing in the first place is the best way to go about it.
