Every employed American has to pay social security tax. This is deducted in the form of self employment or payroll tax. This tax is also paid by employers. Because of this tax, it is possible to provide benefits to millions of Americans including disabled individuals and retirees. Thus, paying this tax is a very noble thing to do.

One should make his contributions on time. Not making a contribution is not a good thing to do as it can lead to penalties. An employer can make a contribution on behalf of an individual. However, such a contribution is not enough. One should also take initiative and make his contribution to the relevant government authorities.
