By Stephen Evans

When it comes to growing old there are no guarantees in life. Some people age in exactly the same way and the main fit and healthy even throughout the senior years. Alternatively other people may develop certain illness and disease and I'm not able to maintain the same quality of life. Dementia and Alzheimer's are one of the two most common diseases to affect seniors. If you're out in a loved one unfortunately has this disease you should consider getting them the Alzheimers care Chicago IL residents are using.

People will have Alzheimer's are no longer able to live on their own. This is mainly because of how the condition affects them. Alzheimer's affects your memory and cognitive functioning more than any other aspect. So in saying this it is highly unlikely that a person with Alzheimer's can live and function on their own.

Alzheimer's is a condition that affects your cognitive abilities and functioning. This basically means that above all else seniors with this condition become very forgetful. They fail to remember to do basic and simple tasks that they have done their entire lives.

One of the best places for your senior loved one to age is at a retirement village or old age home. This is mainly because these facilities contain the staff needed in order to properly take care of your elderly loved one. Alternatively if you can get a professional from a company to be a live in caregiver then this will work out just fine as well.

If you are noticing that your senior loved one is starting to forget things and that their cognitive functioning is no longer what it used to be you should consider taking them for an assessment. If it turns out that they do have Alzheimer's, then you will now need to decide what you're going to do moving forward. People with this condition cannot live in function alone.

If you have a full-time job you cannot possibly be watching your senior loved one 24 hours a day. This is not realistic neither is it possible. This is why you will need to have someone looking up to them. Forgetting the wrong things such as switching on a stove and forgetting to switch it off could mean the difference between life and death for them. So this is basically how serious the situation is when your senior loved one is diagnosed with this disease.

There are so many different avenues that you can pursue to get help for your elderly family member. While you can get a wealth of resources for them to learn for themselves, they still need to be supervised in the interim. So don't waste any time and getting them the help that they require. The sooner you get help for them the better it is for them.

So why not take advantage of these facilities and these caregivers when they are made available to you. You never know when the services will be offered again or available so take advantage of it while it is still there. The sooner you get this type of help for your senior loved one the sooner they will be able to adjust and cope better with growing older.
