Soap Nuts To The Rescue!

By Renee Morrow

Appearance is everything for some. Nobody wants to walk around looking unkempt, and nobody wants to pay a ton of money for a detergent that contains a vast amount of chemicals. Many have been on a hunt for the best detergent at the most affordable price. Some have found that the cleaning power they're seeking can be found in soap nuts.

The Himalayas are the place of origin for this natural cleaner. They naturally produce soap and grow on trees. This special soap is saponin, which penetrates through the fiber of clothing. It breaks up dirt particles, and stains are lifted and washed away.

These so called nuts, are really berry fruits. They look like nuts because they have hard shells that look like nuts when they dry up. Those that have nut allergies don't suffer any affects from its usage.

They also work great for people with sensitive skin. It is gentle enough for baby clothes, cloth diapers, and practically anyone who suffers with allergies. Environmentalists may also rest a lot easier knowing that this product is safe enough for the water and septic systems. One thing that an individual will not see is foam. There are no harmful foam producing chemicals. Everything is pure and natural.

It is true that this fruit seems like the answer to many prayers, the product should always be tested by those with allergies prior to use. Consumers are asked to do a patch test on a small area of skin, as well as wash a small article of clothing in a small container.

These little wonders are usually harvested without any type of fertilizers or harmful pesticides. Due to its horrible taste, insects seem to voluntarily stay away. Therefore, there's really no need for pesticide. They are truly organic and grown by the earth. The soil that the fruit thrives in is that which is uncultivated.

Individuals have reported that their clothes have a better quality when using soap nuts, then when using regular detergent. Clothes have come out fluffier and a lot softer. This product helps to soften clothes by gently loosening fibers, whereas harmful detergents only weaken clothing fibers.

The key ingredient is saponin. During the rinse cycle, a small amount of it is released and it begins to soften the clothes. Fibers begin to open and are gently cleaned. The cleaner doesn't have to be removed, but can stay in the washer during the duration of all cycles. It doesn't leave behind residue as with most detergents.

Some have argued that these little cleaners work better with the seed, and others have said without. However, studies have shown that seeds play a very important role in getting clothes their cleanest. They work as agitators when they rub against the shell and cause the mass production of saponins that are later released into water.

Soap Nuts have seemed to have won the confidence of mothers, college students, and those that are concerned about the environment. Not only does it clean clothes, but it also softens them. What a bargain!
